Job candidate drives 35 minutes and gets ghosted by job interviewer, teen employee tells them to "go home": 'You gotta be kidding me'

Ghosting a job applicant is in such poor form. That's the kind of thing that would make the candidate leave a bad Glassdoor review so that the next person won't make the same mistake! 

Getting ghosted by a job interviewer happens surprisingly often. A lot of times, the interviewer is one of those higher-ups who leaves at 4 PM to catch dinner and a show with their spouse. They can't be bothered to come in at 9 AM or stay more than a few hours in the office before bouncing off to lunch with a client somewhere. So when their assistant mentions that there's a 4 PM interview, but that hiring manager wants to duck out to happy hour with their BFF, they'll just tell the assistant to reschedule the meeting. The job candidate is infuriated by a move like this, while the hiring manager couldn't care less.     While I do have a job already, I thought it would be worthwhile to see what else is out there. A week ago, I found a job posting on indeed. It sounded like a good gig, paid good and is work that I like doing. The only downfall is that it's a 35 min drive out of town.

    I had a good conversation with the business owner (via indeed inbox) and he seemed like a good guy. I explained that I work every day from 7am-3:10pm and he understood that there is a bit of a commute to his shop. He asked me if I could meet up with him at 3:30.     would see him when I get there (somewhere around 3:40-ish) so I gave him with my phone number just in case something was to change, and we left on a good note. I drove rather fast, getting there at 3:37, happy that I got there in under 35 mins.

    I show up. Business closed. I figured he was somewhere nearby, so I get out of my vehicle to search. I look over to my left to see 2 teenagers moving some materials. I approach them and ask them where their boss was while explaining that I had a meeting with him now. One of them then informs me that he just left a few mins ago, but could call him back to come meet me.

    He calls his boss, saying who I am, etc. The teenager chuckles, says "ok" with a "you gotta be kidding me" look on his face and then hangs up. Teenager to me: "He says to go home".

    I asked him to repeat himself. "He said go home", this time laughing uncomfortably. I now have another 35 min drive ahead of me and I am very irritated.     30 mins after that, he felt the need to reach out to me and introduce himself via PRIVATE NUMBER, but I let it go to voicemail (as I was driving), which upon listening to later on, further proved to me that all his negative google reviews were more than likely ALL true, and that this person isn't someone to do business with anyways.

    I bet the teens loved watching this dude do donuts in the parking lot! It's unfortunate that the boss had to get them involved when it was really none of their business. Oh well, there's no way the candidate should be working there after their time wasn't valued.

    Ben_Kenobi_ I once drove around an hour to a place for an interview. The dude talked to me, but he kept saying that he didn't have the questions to do the interview because of his assistant. The dude had me sit in a room for a while, then came and talked to me for a few minutes about nothing, and then it was over. Dude seemed like a complete moron.

    there were no witnesses. He shows up at my parents house for usual Friday dinner a couple hours later, mad as h I. My parents ask him what's wrong, and he said he was both fired and charged with destruction of property. The Boss got home, saw the damage, and immediately called the cops telling them who'd done it.     deny everything for 15 minutes, then led him outside to his truck. The boss's mailbox, complete. with name and address, was literally stuck in the front grill. AND the boss was standing there laughing his a off to make it even worse. Hardest I ever saw my mom and now late dad laugh when my brother got to that part. I was dong too
